First Blog Post and Year End Review
I have always loved taking photos and I had always wanted to understand how to really work a camera but, I never really had the time or energy to work on learning the skills I would need to take good photos. Last year with the birth our our youngest child my husband encouraged me to stay at home with our children and to take care of the day to day management of our household. I leaped on the opportunity to get to spend more time with my kiddos. I had spent so many years working so hard in the nursing field that once I started staying at home I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself. So suddenly I needed something to occupy some of my time. I had purchased a really nice camera a couple of years ago and I had no idea how to use it. So I began to study how to get better photos since I now finally had the time to use my practically new camera. All the classes and tutorials I took said to practice, practice, practice and so I did. I drove my children crazy chasing them around with my camera. However, I quickly learned that the camera I had bought wasn't as good as I had thought it was. So I began working toward obtaining items I would need to be able to take photos I would love. So I invested in a camera I had spent months researching and next I started researching lenses and which lenses would give me the type of images I wanted. Soon after investing in a camera and lenses I wanted to start taking photos of newborns. I have always adored newborns and I began researching where to learn more about newborn photography. I studied other photographers work and began taking classes and workshops on how to handle newborns, how to photograph newborns and all the special equipment and props I would need. I was a little intimidated at first but, I was excited about taking baby photos! I spent roughly a year learning specifically about newborn photography prior to actually getting my very first baby in the studio. The first baby I captured was the very adorable little Miss Madelyn Turner pictured above!! I have learned more with each new session I have done. This year I have done seven newborn sessions and several various other types of sessions. I have enjoyed every type of photo shoot I have done so far and I can't wait to see what 2017 brings for Blissful Baby Studios.
